Tehran and Beijing intensify cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and security

Beijing. April 12. Silkroadnews - Energy is one of the most important areas of cooperation between the two countries…and both sides will step up their international collaboration in all areas, including peaceful nuclear energy, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports citing the statement by Iran’s ambassador in Beijing Ali-Asghar Khaji.
Khaji said the new Silk Road, known as Belt and Road project, has a significant impact on activation of trade between the two countries.
He also noted, China is one of Iran’s major trading partners for a decade with trade turnover amounting to $37 billion in 2017.
The diplomat said that Iran, as one of the world’s richest countries in terms of oil and gas reserves, and also the most stable country in the Middle East region, can play a key role in ensuring China’s energy and transport security.
The ambassador added that Iran, with a population of 80 million people, could be the best place for China to implement the Belt and Road initiative to expand trade ties with the West.
