The Central Bank of Russia included the Chinese yuan in the basket of reserve currencies

Almaty. November 27. Silkroadnews - The Central Bank of Russia included the Chinese yuan into the list of currencies used for the investment of foreign exchange reserves. This was told to Tass by two sources familiar with the situation.
"Bank included the yuan in the basket of reserve currencies", - said one of the sources.
According to both sources, the share of Russian reserves in yuan in the foreseeable future will remain small and will carry symbolic.
Also, the sides noted that the decision to include the yuan was made in mid-November. However, operations on physical buying yuan by Central Bank has not yet produced.
However, according to one source, several board members were against the inclusion  of the yuan in the control basket. First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Xenia Yudaeva previously stated that the yuan can not be used in the formation of international reserves due to its non-reserve status.
According to the accepted international practice, the currency used for the investment of reserves should be free floating. Yuan at the moment is not a freely floating currency, however, according to the People's Bank of China it is moving towards the "free circulation".
It also reported that Russia and China plan to sign an agreement that will allow the two countries to build the necessary infrastructure to buy assets denominated in national currencies.
