The CIS chairmanship has been transferred from Kyrgyzstan to Russia

Almaty. September 19. Silkroadnews – The CIS chairmanship has been transferred from Kyrgyzstan to Russia, KyrTAG reports.

As noted, at the anniversary summit of the heads of the states in Bishkek Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said about transferring the chairmanship in the CIS to the Russian Federation.

«Starting from January 1 the chairmanship will be handed over to Russia. According to the protocol my duty wil be to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin: do you you accept the chairmanship? I congratulate the Russian Federation and Vladimir Vladimirovich on this honorable mission and believe the Russian chairmanship in this turning period will be fruitful», A. Atambayev said at the meeting of the CIS heads of states in Bishkek on Friday.

The Kyrgyz President stressed, the CIS is further to serve as an open platform for the large-format dialogue.
