Almaty. March 10. Silkroadnews – The construction of the high-speed rail line Hangzhou-Wenzhou began in Eastern China, newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.
“Construction of a new high-speed rail link between East China's cities of Hangzhou and Wenzhou began on Thursday (March 9) and is expected to be complete by 2021”, the publication says.
It is noted that the 331km-long line is China’s first public-private partnership PPP funded high-speed railway project.
As soon as the construction is completed, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced from 2.5 hours to about 1 hour. The new railway will also deliver passengers to Beijing and Guangdong province (South China).
China has the largest high-speed rail network in the world, stretching more than 22 thousand km, while the total length of Chinese railways exceeds 124 thousand km.
