Almaty. January 25. Silkroadnews - The container train arrived in China from Ukraine via the Trans-Caspian international transport route, Xinhua news agency reported.
“The first pilot container train, following the Trans-Caspian international transport route from Ukraine to China, departed from the Baku international sea trade port to the Kazakh port of Aktau the night before”, the publication wrote with reference to the press service of Azerbaijani Caspian Sea Shipping Company.
The pilot train consists of 10 wagons and 20 containers with volume of up to 40 feet each; it departed from the ferry terminal in Baku port in Alat on the ferry “Azerbaijan” the night before.
The pilot container train on route Georgia-Ukraine-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-China (via the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea) left from Ilyichevsk on January 15 and arrived on the Georgian port of Poti on January 20.
On January 14, 2016, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Ukraine signed a protocol on the establishment of competitive feed-in tariffs for cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian international transport route.
Trans-Caspian international transport route runs through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and further - to Europe.
