The first cargo train arrived from China in Afghan port of Hairatan

Almaty. September 9. Silkroadnews – The first-ever cargo train arrived from China in the commercial port of Hairatan, Afghanistan (Balkh province), passing through the territory of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.

Transportation along the railway of more than 7.5 thousand km took two weeks. The train arrived with 100 containers of various goods for a total amount of around $4 million.

The Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Yao Jing, speaking at the solemn ceremony in this regard, pointed out to China's commitment to the idea of development of the Silk Road and integration of regional economies, including Afghanistan.

Thus, from now on the businesses will be able to deliver goods from China to Afghanistan, as well as from Afghanistan to China, in two weeks instead of three months as it was along the sea route via Pakistan.
