The first stage of Chinese integrated part of “Khorgos” ICBC has been put in operation
Almaty. April 12. Silkroadnews – The first stage of the China-Kazakhstan International Center of Boundary Cooperation “Khorgos” officially put in operation and started working on April 8, Xinhua news agency reports.
The local authorities believe the beginning of the zone operation will contribute to develop the Ili Kazakh autonomous prefecture and the town of Khorgos, give a new impetus to the development of modern logistics, warehousing, tax-free processing of products in the prefecture and even in the whole Xinjiang and is also important for the conversion of Xinjiang into the central area of the Silk Road economic belt and boosting the development of open economy in the Ili Kazakh autonomous prefecture, the publication says.
The area was established in March 2006 with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. On September 15, 2015, it was successfully approved by ten ministries and departments of China and became the fifth special customs control area in Xinjiang.
The area has all the functions of a duty-free zone, zone of processing of goods for export and duty-free logistics center, and is considered as an industrial base providing for the center of boundary cooperation “Khorgos” development.
