The foreign ministers of the SCO member countries stated the need to support the law and order in the South China Sea

Almaty. May 25. Silkroadnews – Chaired by the Uzbek side a regular session of the Council of Ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Tashkent on May 23-24.

The heads of the foreign ministries of the SCO member states the need to support the law and order at the sea. The statement has been published on the organization’s website.

“The ministers confirmed their countries’ commitments to support the legal order at the sea based on the international law principles, in particular, as recorded in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. All the disputes shall be resolved peacefully through the friendly negotiations and agreements between the parties concerned, without their internationalization and outside interference,” the statement says.

In this regard, the ministers urged for “full respect for all the provisions of the Convention mentioned above, as well as the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea and the guidelines for its implementation”.
