The Great Silk Road is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List

Almaty. June 23. Silkroadnews - The Great Silk Road is included in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), KazTAG reports.

It is noted that the decision was taken on June 22 at the meeting of the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, held in Doha, Qatar.

Application for entry into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the famous caravan route linking the East Asia with the Mediterranean in antiquity and the Middle Ages, was filed jointly by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The Great Silk Road played a major role in the development of economic and cultural relations of the peoples of Asia Minor, Central Asia, the Caucasus and China.

At the present session of World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, whose work will last until June 25, the World Heritage Site also included Grand Canal of China.
