The head of China's largest oil and gas holding was sentenced to 16 years in prison
Almaty. October 13. Silkroadnews - A court in China has sentenced to 16 years in prison the former head of the country's largest oil and gas holding Petro-China, Jiang Zemin, informs Russian service BBC.
"The trial of Jiang Zemin began in April 2015. He was accused of accepting bribes totaling to $2.2 million in the period from 2004 to 2013. Jiang admitted his guilt in court", - said in a statement.
It also reported that the accomplice of the head of Petro-China, former Minister of Public Security Zhou Yongkang, was sentenced to life imprisonment in June. Many of his former colleagues and relatives are also under investigation on charges of corruption.
As previously reported, starting in 2013 investigations on corruption in CNPC (parent Petro-China) affected 46 people. Several top executives, including former CEO of the oil company Jiang Zemin, have been detained.
In 2015, testing of anti-corruption agencies in China will touch 26 state-owned companies, including the key enterprises in the oil, electricity, telecommunications, transport and construction.
The campaign against corruption in China was initiated by President Xi Jinping.
