The head of Iran and Afghanistan discussed bilateral cooperation
Almaty. October 6. Silkroadnews - The President of Iran Hassan Rouhani had a telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on the current state and prospects of further development of bilateral relations, transmits the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
H.Ruhani noted that Iran joyfully met the news of the formation of the Afghan government of national unity. He also pointed the importance of the full participation of both sides of the electoral process in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan, and the interests of its people.
The Iranian leader has expressed regret over the recent signing of a bilateral Afghan-American treaty on security, stressing that in every decision priority should always be given to the interests of ordinary citizens. He expressed the hope that the conclusion of this agreement will not affect the friendly relations between the two nations of Iran and Afghanistan, as well as cooperation and partnership between Tehran and Kabul.
"Regional cooperation is a major factor in the fight against terrorism, as well as ethnic and religious extremism", - said H.Ruhani.
In turn, the head of Afghanistan has assured Iran that any agreement with third countries will not be directed against Tehran. A.Ahmadzai said that extremism and terrorism are important issues that should be dealt with by all countries.
On the topic of a national unity government in Afghanistan, A.Ahmadzai emphasized that, in his opinion, this policy should be continued in order to establish peace and stability in his country.
