Almaty. September 25. Silkroadnews - The head of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) Janet Yellen expects the increase of the key rate before the end of 2015, reported RBC.
The impact of factors, that led to the weakness of the US economy, has fallen to such an extent that inflation will gradually rise in the coming years, said J. Yellen, speaking at the University of Massachusetts.
According to her, while the inflation rate is constrained by the strong dollar, low oil prices and imports, however, these factors may be temporary, and in this case, consumer prices will gradually go up.
"Most members of the committee (the Federal Reserve) on the open market, including me, now expect that the achievement of these conditions is likely to entail an initial rate increase later this year, and the continued policy tightening after this" - said J. Yellen.
She stressed that the regulator has to stay ahead of these processes and prevent the action of speculators in the markets, which could undermine financial stability.
In fact, J. Yellen warned financial markets that the FRS did not raise interest rates last week, and this does not mean the transition to the endless postponement of monetary policy tightening.
On September 17 FRS has kept interest rates at a record low - 0-0.25% per annum. US base rate at 0-0.25% per annum is held for six years, later there are two more FRS meeting - in November and December 2015.
