Almaty. May 23. Silkroadnews – The IMF first deputy managing director David Lipton urged for the reform of Iran’s economy, the IMF site informs.

According to Trend, he said the ultimate success depends on strengthening of macroeconomic policies in the short-term and deep structural reforms in the long-term.

D.Lipton stressed that Iran has already taken important steps to ensure macroeconomic stability, including lower inflation growth.

“This has been done despite an increase in spending on commercial and financial transactions, as well as limited access to foreign currency assets. All this has led to inflation increase and rial’s significant depreciation,” he added.
D.Lipton also reminded that according to the latest IMF forecasts, the global economic growth is expected to reach 3.2% in 2016 and 3.5% in 2017.
