Almaty. May 31. Silkroadnews – The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has reduced the bank rate to 6%, KyrTAG reports.

“On May 30, 2016, the board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to reduce the discount rate by 200 basis points to 6%. The decision comes into force since May 31, 2016,” the chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic Tolkunbek Abdygulov said at the press conference on Tuesday.

As he pointed out, the monetary policy measures taken earlier currently show a disinflation in the country.

“Cheapening the cost of the food product groups and weakening of domestic consumer demand contribute to decline. In May 2016 (as of May 20, 2016) inflation stood at 0.2% level, having dropped from 3.4% at the beginning of the year,” the head of the National Bank stated.
