The paralysis of the Security Council and the flow of arms to Syria became the reasons of worsening of the conflict - Head of the UN

Almaty. September 29. Silkroadnews - UN chief Ban Ki-moon at the general debate of the 70th UN General Assembly Session in New York called to prevent global warming on the planet and stop the "slaughter" in Syria, reports the News Centre.
Ban Ki-moon said that in regard to the situation in Syria, "the key role is played by five countries: the Russian Federation, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey". According to him, as long as these countries find compromise, we cannot expect any changes.
The UN chief added that the current inaction leads to the suffering of ordinary Syrian citizens. He stressed that the Syrians are victims of bombings and acts of terror. The Secretary-General urged to pass "the Syrian dossier" to the International Criminal Court.
Ban Ki-moon noted that more than 100 million syrian people are in need of international assistance and 60 million are internally displaced people. The secretary general said that the United Nations has requested donors to finance humanitarian projects by $20 billion (6 times more than 10 years ago), but donors are not in a hurry to allocate funds.
Ban KI-moon thanked Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey for the reception and settlement of millions of Syrian and Iraqi refugees. He stressed that developing countries no longer cope with the influx and called upon all countries of the world to come to the aid of people who are fleeing from violence and conflict.
He also called on to stop the suffering of the inhabitants of Yemen, to prevent setbacks in the Middle East peace process and unitely stand against terrorism in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General informed the leaders of states and governments on efforts of UN to strengthen the peacekeeping activities. He called to realize the goals of sustainable development a reality and prevent global warming on the planet.
