Almaty. January 21. Silkroadnews - Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of China, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Political Consultative Council of China Wu Jianmin said he hoped that the number of Kazakhstani people studying Chinese language will continue to grow, KazTAG reports.
“As for the study of the Chinese language. 4 years ago I was in America, having crossed it from the west to the east in 2 weeks I noticed that Americans were paying more attention to learning Chinese. 4 years ago America’s economy was not very strong, there was high unemployment, yet the Chinese language teachers were in a deficit”, he said at the international conference “One belt - one road: the modern foreign policy of China” on Wednesday.
“We discuss “belt and road” (“Silk Road economic belt” - Silkroadnews). In the course of this program implementation, I believe, the strong focus should be done on learning each other’s languages. In Kazakhstan we opened the Academy of Confucius, where professors teach the Chinese language”, Wu Jianmin said answering the questions on possible organization of new courses of the Chinese language.
He also proposed to expand the exchange of students between Kazakhstan and China.
“I suggest to increase number of students participating in foreign exchange of students, as relations are getting developed through people who know each other, who know languages of each another country. Unfortunately, we experience a lack of such development. I believe number of such people shall be increased in the future. See, there are people in Kazakhstan who study Chinese language, it is quite possible they can devote their lives to study China. We welcome such people; we want their number to be much bigger. Such increase makes us happy and I believe the implementation of the strategy “Belt and road” will promote its further growth”, he added.
