The SCO observers to participate in the presidential elections in Uzbekistan

Almaty. September 26. Silkroadnews – Beijing held a regular session of the Council of National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with a participation of representatives of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.

According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, at the end of the meeting it was decided to send a group of the SCO observers to take part in the presidential elections in Uzbekistan to be held on December 4, 2016.

To remind, there will be four parties taking part in the elections. They are: the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan nominating Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan «Milly Tiklanish» nominating Sarvar Otamuradov, the Social-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (SDPU) Adolat – with Nariman Umarov, and the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – with Hotamzhon Ketmonov.

The early elections of the President of Uzbekistan will be held on December 4, 2016, due to the death of President Islam Karimov on September 2, 2016, after a stroke.

The President of Uzbekistan is elected for a term of 5 years.
