The source of real threats to the CSTO countries is Afghanistan - the Organization

Silkroadnews - On October 14 in the CSTO Secretariat, chaired by the Secretary General of the Organization Nikolai Bordyuzha was held a meeting of the Deputy Secretaries of Security Council of State - members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization with the participation of the Iranian ambassador to Russia and a representative of the Chinese Embassy.
"The meeting discussed a number of topical issues of international and regional security. Expressed general concern about the activities of the Middle East, the so-called Islamic State attempts to extend its influence in the direction of the southern borders of the CSTO countries and China, as well as Afghanistan", - said the press service of the CSTO.
According to the participants of the meeting, the real threat to the CSTO member states come from Afghanistan.
"From there, increasing the flow of illicit drugs produced in the territory of the IRA, enhances the activity of operating in the country of radical extremist of Islamic groups and the danger of their penetration in the Central Asian region", - the report says.
Noted the appearance of LIH militants in Afghanistan, where there are already 2 to 3 thousand participants. Concern was expressed about the possible deterioration of the situation on the line of the border between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
In this regard, the meeting focused on reviewing the development of coordinated approaches - the CSTO member states, Iran and China to counter the IS, primarily on coordinated cutting off the channels of recruitment and migration routes of foreign terrorist operatives, following the conflict zone. The sides agreed to increase efforts aimed at disrupting attempts to use the Internet for the benefit of the IS and the terrorist organizations in the upcoming phases of the operation "PROXY".
