The Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran has new appointments
Tehran. June 18.Silkroadnews - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree on the new appointments to the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, reports KazTAG.
New board members are: former Secretary of Supreme National Security Council and chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, a former ambassador to Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia Ibrahim Sheibani and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Ahmad Vahidi, who from 2009 to 2013 held the post of Minister of Defense, the Council Taremi Hossain (former ambassador to China and Saudi Arabia) and Mehdi Mostafavi Ahari (the former ambassador to Germany).
Head of the council is Syed Kamal Kharrazi, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran from 1997 to 2005.
Strategic Council on Foreign Relations was established on June 25, 2006 by Ayatollah Khamenei. The Council aims to facilitate the decision-making process in the country, to find new foreign policy approaches and implementation of foreign policy.
