Almaty. October 23. Silkroadnews - spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), Ayatollah Ali Khamenei criticized the strong dependence of the national economy from oil revenues, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Thursday.
"Instead of being dependent on oil revenues, we must rely on the intelligence and talent of our young people. When this happens, no force on the planet will be able to harm the economy of our country",- said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with the young Iranian scientists and students in Tehran.
In this regard, Khamenei urged the Iranian government to take early steps for the conclusion of the national economy from excessive dependence on petrodollar through greater involvement of potential intellectually developed and talented youth of the country in achieving sustainable economic growth in the long term.
Supreme Leader of Iran expressed the opinion that, despite some progress made in the Islamic republic in science and technology, "Iran has so far failed to take its rightful place in terms of breakthrough scientific work".
"We need to continue our scientific progress through the strengthening of high-tech companies, as well as an economy based on knowledge and modern technology", - he concluded.
