Almaty. May 25. Silkroadnews - By the end of 2015 the total capacity of nuclear power plants operating in China will reach 30 million kW, reports the agency Xinhua.
"In 2015, China is expected to approve the creation of another 4-6 new nuclear power plants. By the end of the year the total capacity of nuclear power plants operating in the country will reach 30 million kW", - said the deputy executive secretary of the China Association of nuclear energy, Xu Yuming.
According to him, at present, China has 52 nuclear reactors, which are already operating, under construction or planned to be built. They are placed on the 13 power stations in eight provinces, of which there are 23 power capacity of 21.4 million kW.
According to the scheduled program of nuclear power development in China, in 2020 the total capacity of operating nuclear power plants in the country will reach 58 million kW, at the same time the power units under construction will exceed 30 million kW.
He predicts that by 2030, total electricity consumption in China will double compared with the current figure. It is therefore necessary to develop a fully environmentally friendly power generation in favor of reducing carbon emissions.
