The United States launched food security activity in Tajikistan
Almaty. February 1. Silkroadnews – The US announced launch of food security program in Khatlon region of Tajikistan, the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) reports.
“The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced a new food security program that will operate in western Khatlon Province of the Republic of Tajikistan,” - the embassy of the USA informed.
This three-year activity will support household and small commercial farmers to increase, diversify, and add value to their agricultural production.
The program objective is to increase dietary diversity and improve nutrition in 12 target districts of western Khatlon; for this the program focuses on five nutrition sensitive agricultural sectors including: agricultural extension, vegetables, fruits, dairy, and irrigation water.
