Almaty. May 20. Silkroadnews – Foreign banks and companies shall not reject doing legitimate business with Iran, the joint statement by the United States, European Union, France, Britain and Germany following a meeting in Brussels says, BBC Russian office reports.

“We will not stand in the way of international firms or financial institutions’ engaging with Iran, as long as they follow all applicable laws,” the statement says.

According to the statement by the US and EU countries, Iran is of great interest to European and other international banks and companies, and the joint comprehensive action plan provides for renewal of their ties with Tehran.

The document also notes the US and EU are exploring new areas of cooperation with Iran, including the use of export credits to boost trade, project financing and investment in Iran.

Due to the nuclear agreement that was made with Iran last summer and came into force in February, the sanctions previously imposed on Tehran by the US and EU countries are removed. Later though Washington imposed new sanctions against Iran’s missile program and participation in the armed conflicts in the Middle East.
