The US to allocate around $2 million to prepare the parliamentary elections in Afghanistan
Almaty. April 19. Silkroadnews – The US State Department will allocate around $2 million to contribute to prepare the parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
“The US State Department is ready to pay $1.95 million to non-profit organizations in Afghanistan to help the residents to get prepared for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The US embassy in Kabul will search for grantees”, the report said.
It is noted that the term of office of the previous Afghan parliament expired in 2015, and the composition of the parliament has not yet been re-elected.
Earlier in March the head of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) of Afghanistan, Imam Mohammad Warimach, said that the elections could be held in November of this year.
