Almaty. November 6. Silkroadnews - By 2020, coal consumption in China may be reduced to 2.72 billion metric tons, which will talk about the decline of its share in total energy consumption to 57.3% and increase the share of non-fossil fuels to 15.2%, reported the agency Xinhua.
According to a study prepared by over 20 agencies and organizations - practiced for decades approach, when the country in its energy mix relies on coal - contributed to high rates of economic growth, but also led to serious environmental consequences.
Earlier this year, the Chinese government in a document sent to the UN, pledged to achieve the peak in carbon emissions by 2030.
This obligation would have a deterrent effect on coal consumption, believe the authors of the report. They predict that China will come to the peak level of coal consumption before 2025.
