Almaty. September 30. Silkroadnews - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the summit to combat violent extremism in New York, said that violent extremism has become one of the most serious threats to peace and security, promoting the growth of international terrorism, reported the press service of the head of state.
"We need a new global consensus. States must show the political will to join forces against a common threat. The world was able to do this during the Second World War. We have demonstrated our unity after September 11, 2001. In 2013, we witnessed global responsibility displayed by Washington and Moscow that have agreed to cooperate in destruction of chemical weapons in Syria. In July this year was reached a fateful agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. Major powers have been able to rise above their current differences. And today, we hope that they will also be united in the fight against terrorism, which poses a serious threat to the entire civilized world", - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted a number of areas, which should be sent to the joint efforts of the countries. In particular, he noted the importance of recognizing terrorism as a global threat.
According to him, the world needs universal and mandatory, for all states, rules and regulations of action against terrorists and extremists.
He also stressed the importance of developing a single mechanism for the prosecution and extradition of people involved in crimes of international terrorism and extremism. At the same time, in his opinion, it should be made clear that in relation to those who will support them, will be applied the most severe sanctions.
