Almaty. December 28. Silkroadnews - The world’s first smart tanker will be created in China, China Daily reports.
“Engineers with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co are working on China’s first smart crude oil carrier, which will incorporate technology to help the captain operate the ship,” the report said.
DSIC, a subsidiary of the state-owned shipbuilding giant China Shipbuilding Industry Corp, is the developer and creator of China’s first Chinese aircraft carrier. This is the country’s first shipbuilding company capable of designing and manufacturing 300,000 tonnes oil tankers. It has already delivered more than 70 supertankers and received orders for another eight, a total of 10% of the total number of such tankers all over the world.
“This year, the shipyard has delivered 24 high-end vessels, including large container ships capable of carrying 20,000 standard 20-foot containers, advanced deep-water semi-submersible drilling platforms, China's biggest ship for transporting live animals and a very large chemical tanker,” the report reads.
DSIC’s activities cover the entire life cycles of a ship, including research and development, construction, repair and scrapping.
The company is pushing the shipbuilding industry of China to switch from conventional shipbuilding to the creation of high-tech vessels. It is expected that the annual income of DSIC will exceed 20 billion yuan ($3.05 billion).
