The world's largest railway station to be built in China by 2019

Almaty. September 29. Silkroadnews –  Chinese authorities are planning to build the world's deepest and largest high-speed railway station at one of the sections of the Great Wall, «People's Daily» reports.

«The new station will be located 80km north-west of Beijing, 102m below the surface with an underground construction area of 35,000 square meters. According to Chen Bin, director in charge of construction for China Railway No 5 Engineering Group, the Badaling Station will be equal to five standard soccer fields, making it the deepest and largest high-speed railway station in the world», the publication says.

The station will have three floors to separate the arrival and departure of trains. The height of the escalators will reach 62m.

According to the publication, the construction is scheduled to be completed by 2019. The station will become a part of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway line to serve the tourists during the Winter Olympic Games 2022 in Beijing and at some sports facilities in the suburbs of the Chinese capital.
