Almaty. August 5. Silkroadnews - The level of the international use of the yuan in the world - one of the criteria required for inclusion in the basket of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) - has increased in recent years, reported the agency TASS.
The inclusion of currencies in the basket is based on two criteria - volume of exports of the State of the issuer and the level of its free use. IMF five years ago have rejected Beijing's bid for inclusion yuan in the SDR for it's free use.
"Yuan is the only currency that is not included in the SDR basket, but meets the criterion of export", - say experts.
However, the Fund noted that the recent collapse of the Chinese stock market index will not affect the review of the organization of Beijing's bid for the inclusion of the yuan in the basket.
SDR's exchange rate is determined based on the cost of a basket of four major currencies: the US dollar, euro, yen and pound sterling. Weight of currencies in the basket is reviewed every five years.
