There are only 2 “backbone” banks left in Kazakhstan – Head of Kazakhstan National Bank
Astana. May 13. Silkroadnews – We only have 2 “backbone” banks left in Kazakhstan, as the head of the National Bank, Kairat Kelimbetov, reports.
“We have only 2 “backbone” banks left in the system today. Those are first of all Halyk Bank; the second would be the entity that will come into being once the BTA bank and the KKB are to merge”, Mister Kelimbetov said at the briefing organised by the President’s Central Communications Service.
He says Kazakhstan has 38 banks in total. Those could be classified into “backbone” banks, medium- and small-sized banks.
