This year China will invest $11.7 billion to the construction and reconstruction of airports
Almaty. January 11. Silkroadnews - China intends to invest about 77 billion yuan ($11.7 billion) into construction of new and reconstruction of existing airports in 2016, TASS informs.
According to the publication, “this decision was taken by Directorate General for Civil Aviation of China (DGAC). 11 key infrastructure projects and 52 programs for reconstruction or expansion of civil aviation facilities shall be launched this year”.
DGAC representatives also promised to strenghten work on the construction of major new airports, including Beijing, Chengdu, Qingdao, Xiamen and Dalian.
It is expected that the new airport of the Chinese capital in the southern suburban district of Daxing will be launched into opertion by the end of 2019.
Last September the construction of the terminal and air traffic control facilities started, in June 2016 work on supporting infrastructure shall start as well.
As DGAC representatives note, this project will become the largest in the history of China’s air transport.
“As a whole for the next five years China plans to build 66 new civilian airports. Thus the total number of the airports in the continental China shall grow from 206 to 272”, the deputy head of DGAC Dong Zhiyi emphasized.
