Tibet promises to save 140,000 people from poverty in 2018
Almaty. December 21. Silkroadnews - Tibet promises to save 140,000 people from poverty in 2018, Xinhua reports.
“Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has vowed to pull 140,000 people out of poverty in 2018, local authorities said,” the report said.
The region plans to exclude 2,000 villages and 25 districts from the list of impoverished areas of the country.
It is estimated that from 2016 to 2020, more than 200 billion yuan ($30 billion) will be invested to eradicate poverty in Tibet, with 90% of investments directed to infrastructure and poverty reduction projects in the poorest areas.
The region will also accelerate the pace of resettlement to help citizens live better.
As the agency reminds, China strives to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020.
