Trade turnover between Ukraine and Uzbekistan grew one third
Beijing. February 26. Silkroadnews - In 2017, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Uzbekistan grew 36.3% and amounted to $303.9 million, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reported.
With this, the exports of goods and services from Ukraine to Uzbekistan amounted to $176.1 million, which is a 19.1% increase, and imports of Uzbek goods and services to Ukraine amounted to $127.8 million, a 70.2% growth.
The data has been voiced by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Uzbekistan Yuri Savchenko at a press conference held in Tashkent.
In terms of Ukraine’s trade turnover in 2017 Uzbekistan ranked sixth among the CIS countries.
The main export items to Uzbekistan were pharmaceutical products 31.2%, ferrous metal products 14%, nuclear reactors, boilers, machines 10.4%, paper and cardboard 9%, other products of base metal 3.5%, appliances and apparatus optical, photographic 3.2%, sugar and confectionery 3.1%.
The main imports from Uzbekistan to Ukraine were fertilizers 31%, zinc and zinc products 18.5%, transport vehicles other than railway 12.5%, cotton 9.5%, plastics, polymeric materials 5.4%, tobacco and industrial tobacco substitutes 4.2%, edible fruits and nuts 4%, etc.
As for the investment cooperation, dated as of October 1, 2017, Uzbekistan invested into economy of Ukraine $14.626 million and direct investments from Ukraine to the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to $351.7 thousand, with major part of the investments directed to industry sector - 60.3%.
