Trade volume between Kabul and Islamabad fell to $1.5 billion after the closure of the checkpoints
Almaty. 16 March. Silkroadnews – Due closing of the checkpoints between Afghanistan and Pakistan the volume of trade between two states fell to $1.5 billion, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
“After the recent closing of the checkpoints and customs terminals the trade volume between two countries fell from annual $2 billion to $1.5 billion. Meanwhile, the real potential of trade turnover is up to $4 billion”, Vice Chairman of Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi said.
According to him, Afghanistan depends on Pakistan in everything. Building materials, food, vegetables, fruits and dried fruits are the major trading items between two countries.
The Pakistani government does not give any comments regarding the checkpoints' opening terms.
