Almaty. July 9. Silkroadnews - Turkey may increase cargo ships RO-RO type from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, bypassing Iran, in the case of additional discount from Azerbaijani side, reports Trend with reference to the executive director of the Association of International Road Carriers Fatih Shener.
He mentioned the possibility that Turkey could increase the flow of cargo through Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan up to 25 thousand trucks annually. F.Shener also noted that annually through Iran to Turkmenistan sent 50 thousand Turkish trucks, while through Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan - only 5 thousand. According to F.Shener previously Azerbaijan gave Turkey a 10 percent discount for the cargo transportation via the Caspian Sea. But the main problem in the transportation of cargo via Azerbaijan is the fact that it is much more expensive than shipping goods to Europe.
As for F.Shener, Turkey and China agreed on the joint use of roads, and in February 2016 the parties will sign an agreement on the issue. It remains only to choose a final route for the import of goods to Turkey, and Azerbaijan has great potential to become a transit country.
Earlier, the head of the association of international carriers Chetin Nuhoglu said that Iran creates artificial obstacles to Turkish carriers.
According to him, the Iranian side is constantly delaying the import of Turkish goods to the country, as well as prescribes different penalties for drivers.
"70% of Turkish goods is delayed due to the fault of the Iranian side", - said Ch.Nuhoglu.
