Almaty. May 19. Silkroadnews – Two freight trains have collided near the Kazakhstani-Chinese border; the railway operation got suspended, KazTAG reports.

“At 04.40 a.m. today in 1km from the border behind the “Dostyk” station two freight trains collided at the site of the Jungar border crossing checkpoint. The train coming from China was empty, and the train following to China from Kazakhstan was laden with inert materials, including hard stone,” the publication stated with reference to information source on Thursday.

As a result of collision the fire started.

“At 06:00 a.m. the fire got localized by three fire brigades. The accident resulted in two railway lines damaged. The railway operation for freight and passenger trains has been suspended in both directions,” the agency’s source informs adding the transport prosecutor’s office is in charge of investigation of this incident. There are no immediate reports of casualties or injuries as train drivers were in time to jump out of the trains.

“The trains followed the one branch railway line which is unacceptable. Most probably it is the mistake by the controller. Each train had about 20 cars,” the source informed.
