Two kids, offspring of world’s first cloned cashmere goat, born in China
Beijing. April 5. Silkroadnews - Two kids have been born in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the offspring of the world’s first cloned cashmere goat, People’s Daily Online reported citing the Bayannur city government.
According to the researchers, two kids born after a natural reproduction and process are in good condition and feel well.
“The successful breeding will accelerate the application of clone technology in cashmere goat husbandry,” the agency quoted saying by a research worker at the animal breeding farm where the kids were born.
The father, the world’s first cloned cashmere goat, was born in December 2016. To test the possibilities of breeding, the researchers allowed him to mate with more than 20 goats, and most of them were impregnated.
The thickness of high-quality cashmere fiber is less than 13.8 micrometers, much finer than the average of 15.8 micrometers on the famous Erlang Mountain goats in Inner Mongolia.
