Astana. April 24. Silkroadnews – Ukrainian situation caused tsunami of misinformation online via social networks, Dariga Nazarbayeva, the Deputy Speaker of Lower Chamber of Kazakh Parliament, thinks.
“Ukrainian events caused tsunami of misinformation. Majority of this misinformation is communicated via Social Networks and blogs”, Dariga Nazarbayeva said at XII Eurasian Media Forum opening ceremony in Astana.
“Social Networks tend to become a platform for verbal abuse, mutual accusations and everlasting hysteria, let alone at the time of crisis. Society needs and has to learn how to shield itself from this electronic insanity virus. This should not be prohibited, but we should shield from it”, she added.
“We feel for Ukraine, for our good friend and reliable trade partner, with which we have very much in common. We process those events as simply a personal matter”, Deputy Speaker Nazarbayeva noticed.
She thinks that people tend to live with myths and mutual fears driving them on both sides of “barricades and maidans”. Those myths and fears further reinforce mistrust, disgust and hatred. Only dialogues can bring it to an end.
