Ukranian owner of “Tajik Azot” Dmitriy Firtash arrested in Austria

Dushanbe. March 14. Silkroadnews Arrested in Austria Dmitriy Firtash also owns “Tajik Azot”, a leading chemical pesticides company in Tajikistan.

The Ukranian businessman is the number 14th of the Ukranian Forbes ratings with his fortune of USD 673 million. He was arrested by the FBI on the 11th of March in Austria in relation to the investment project in India, in which he allegedly participated in 2006. The claims came from the citizen of India arrested in the US. Firtash is likely to face charges related to bribery and organized crime.

In 2002, Firtash established vast trade relations in central Asia, including “Tajik Azot”

However, starting from 2008, “Tajik Azot” is no longer in operation. This is due to the suspension of natural gas supply to Tajikistan. Firtash also owns Tajik “Guliston” and “Abreshimi Khudjant”

“Tajik Azot” located in Sarband is a part of OSTSCHEM Group, the chemical holding. The holding has assets in Ukraine, Tajikistan and Estonia with its main assets in Ukraine.

“Tajik Azot” is founded in 1964. It is the only facility in the country to produce carbamide.
