UN has noted Iran's role in the provision of humanitarian aid to the Middle East

Almaty. August 18. Silkroadnews - Islamic Republic of Iran plays an important role in facilitating smooth delivery of humanitarian supplies to the civilian population in the Middle East against the backdrop of the current unprecedented crisis in Iraq and Syria, said in Tehran deputy secretary, UN Humanitarian Coordinator Valerie Amos.
A senior official of the United Nations convened in Tehran a number of meetings and negotiations with the authorities of the Islamic Republic.
"I had the opportunity to discuss with our partners from the Iranian government ways in which we can strengthen our partnership in order to improve regional cooperation in the provision of humanitarian assistance, and to consider measures to prevent a serious humanitarian crisis in the region", - explained Deputy Secretary of United Nations .
Recall V. Amos held talks with Chairman of the Organization of Iran on prevention of consequences of natural disasters Ismail Najjar, during which they exchanged  views on the improvement of information processing, operational efficiency and capacity building.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Javad Zarif, the parties discussed the crisis and the growing humanitarian disaster in Syria, Iraq and Gaza Strip.
