Underground work at Kumtor can lead natural consequences, say Kyrgyzstan geologists

Bishkek. June 25. Silkroadnews - It is impossible to conduct underground work at Kumtor, said the head of the state agency of geology and mineral resources of Kyrgyzstan Duyshenbek Zilaliev, transmits KyrTAG.
"Underground works at Kumtor can not be carriedout. Durng the last 20 years the rock emptied, and it can lead to disaster consequences. This method is available only with the full cementing of rocks, and this is an expensive process,"- he said at a session of parliament on Wednesday.
According to him, cementing of rocks will cost $25 thousand per 1 m2
"It is not profitable, so we can not allow the production of underground gold" - he added.
However, such a statement angered Deputies.
"For us important is gold, if it was unprofitable, it would not be used in many countries," - said the deputy Zhoomart Saparbaev.
