Bishkek. June 11. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyz MP Damira Niyazaliyeva proposed to abolish unemployment benefits during the working session of the Select Committee on Social Policy.
There are 210 000 of unemployed people registered in Kyrgyzstan. State budget allocates around USD 35 (2 000 Kyrgyz soms a year) in unemployment benefits for each of them, as Kyrgyz Minister of Labour, Migration and Youth Aliasbek Alymkulov informed.
Kyrgyz MP Niyazaliyeva reckons that 2 000 soms a year does not solve any problems of the unemployed. At the same time, 86 mln soms (USD 1 480 000) that the state allocates for these purposes every year is creates a significant budgetary pressure.
That is why the MP proposes to abolish unemployment benefit all together. She thinks those budgetary funds should be spent to create new work plaaces for the unemployed.
“We used to be creating around 30 000 work places annually. This number has now risen to 40 000”, the MP noticed.
