“Unmanned” bank was opened in Shanghai
Beijing. April 12. Silkroadnews - China Construction Bank’s branch in Kiukiang Road, Shanghai, became the first “unmanned bank” on the mainland of China, China Plus reports.
Instead of the human personnel, a robot works in the lobby of the bank serving as a banking manager and is able to communicate with customers to meet their needs and solve the problems of the majority of clients.
The difference between a traditional self-service bank and the unmanned bank is the use of intelligent self-service equipment that can access various banking services within the bank’s branch.
Clients in the “unmanned” branch can have access to video teller machines, currency exchange machines, as well as interactive services. The self-service equipment can handle more than 90% of the cash and non-cash services of a traditional bank.
Nevertheless, despite the term “unmanned bank”, the Kiukiang CCB branch does still maintain a human staff, the report reads.
