Beijing. April 10. Silkroadnews - At emergency session of the U.N. Security Council, the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said that Russia is to be blamed for the death of civilians in Syria, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports referring to the BBC Russian service.
“The Russian regime, whose hands are all covered in the blood of Syrian children, cannot be shamed by pictures of its victims. … We have reached the moment when the world must see justice done,” Haley said noting that the United States will respond to the alleged chemical attack in Douma, in the Eastern Ghouta region, a suburb of Damascus.
9 nations called for emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council after reports on the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian army in Douma, resulting in the death of dozens of civilians, including children.
The U.S. State Department said that the attack, if it is confirmed, requires an immediate response from the international community.
The U.S.-based Syrian-American Medical Society reported at least 48 people died. All the victims had symptoms that indicated the use of chemical agents. More than 500 people were taken to medical centers with similar symptoms.
President of the United States Donald Trump directly addressed Russian President Putin as responsible for the attack.
So far it is not possible to check what really happened in Douma and what is the number of casualties through the independent check.
