Beijing. May 24. Silkroadnews - The United States and China have “agreed on the broad outline of a deal” to settle the issue of Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE, Xinhua reports.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal with reference to the informed sources, details of the transaction have not yet been finalized.
If an agreement is reached on this issue, the US government will remove the existing ban on the sale of U.S. components and software to ZTE.
However, a possible easing of the ban on the part of the US should still be approved by the U.S. national security authorities.
According to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, “the intent was not to put the company (ZTE) out of business.”
Reportedly, U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, who oversees the ZTE deal, is expected to travel to Beijing next week.
