US does not want to see the Central Asia countries as a shelter for terrorists
Almaty. February 10. Silkroadnews - United States does not want to see the countries of Central Asia, as a shelter for terrorists, said Deputy Assistant Secretary of States for Central Asia, Daniel Rosenblum.
"We care about the stability in Central Asia. They are located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, bordered with very large and important countries with which the United States has a complicated relationship. So it is in our interests, and we care about it. We do not want to see the countries of Central Asia as a safe haven for terrorists "- quoted KazTAG D.Rozenblum during a telephone press conference in Astana on Tuesday.
He noted that not only the authorities of Central Asian countries, but also representatives of business and NGOs want stability.
"In all the countries of Central Asia, which I have visited in the last 6 months, I have heard a number of signals. And the first of them is the "we want stability, we want predictability". I would like to emphasize that I have heard such a signal not only from officials but also from non-governmental entities, businesses, NGOs",- he said.
According to him, representatives of the Central Asian countries expressed their concerns about the withdrawal of coalition troops from Afghanistan and the conflict in Ukraine.
"I also heard from those countries, they have a desire to preserve their independence and sovereignty, as well as freedom of choice. Central Asian countries are very proud of their independence and do not want any interference in their affairs",- said D. Rosenblum.
He also mentioned the desire of the Central Asian countries to expand relations with the United States in all areas.
