US Embassy to finance sewage treatment plants construction in Kabul
Beijing. May 17. Silkroadnews - The U.S. Embassy will finance the construction of waste water treatment facilities for correctional facilities in Kabul, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
“This pioneering project represents another milestone in the 12-year partnership between the United States and Afghanistan to improve correctional facilities. We remain committed to assisting the Afghan government in progress toward maintaining safe, secure, and modern correctional programs,” the U.S. Ambassador Bass said at the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the new building.
At the end of the project, expected to complete in a year, the facility will ensure the purification of the main wastewater for more than 14,000 prisoners at Pol-i Charki, the country’s largest prison complex.
