US national debt to Kazakhstan for the year increased by 14%
Astana. November 25. Silkroadnews - US government debt to Kazakhstan as of July 1, 2015 amounted to $40 billion, an increase over the last year by 13.96%, over the last 3 years - by 38.41%, infomed KazTAG.
"As of July 1, 2015 the total market value of investments in US government securities amounted to about $40 billion (including foreign exchange reserves and the National Fund). The main instruments are highly liquid US Treasury bonds with a maturity of 1-5 years", - said the press service of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
As noted, the investments in US government securities are carried out within the framework of the investment strategy for managing foreign exchange assets, as well as according to the rules of the investment operations of the National Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by the Board of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
According to the approved investment strategy of foreign exchange assets of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as the rules of investment operations of the National Fund of Kazakhstan, investment allowed in the following countries: Canada, Australia, UK, South Korea, Japan and the Eurozone.
According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the gross external debt of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of June 30, 2015 was $155 238.9 million, having decreased in January-June this year by 1.39%, compared to $157 422.7 milion as of 31 December 2014.
Meanwhile, the international reserves of Kazakhstan, including assets of the National Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan in foreign currency ($63.882 billion), as of November 1 this year amounted to $92.541 billion.
