US President supports Uzbek President’s initiative on Afghanistan

Beijing. March 2. Silkroadnews - The U.S. President Donald Trump supports the initiatives of the leader of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to hold an international conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent on March 26-27, 2018, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports citing the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
According to the publication, president Trump said Uzbekistan has already made a significant progress in expanding the regional cooperation, with the Samarkand conference last November contributing to building a promising atmosphere of cooperation throughout Central Asia. The U.S. president also marked Uzbekistan president’s meeting with President [Ashraf] Ghani in December as a move toward greater interconnection and prosperity and said he support Uzbek leader’s initiative to hold an international conference on Afghanistan.
The U.S. delegation will take part in the Tashkent conference, Trump also added.
