Beijing. February 16. Silkroadnews - In response to accusations of the head of the U.S. National Intelligence Daniel Coats that the U.S. face numerous threats from China, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson said such a strong sense of insecurity by the United States is beyond comprehension, the Global Times reported.
“I don't know why the United States has such a strong sense of insecurity,” China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said, adding there hardly can be such a thing as absolute security under the sun, and one country’s security cannot be achieved at the expense of other countries’ security.
The U.S. National Intelligence Director Daniel Coats said at a meeting of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that the U.S. run into multiple threats posed by such countries as Russia and China, including Iran’s nuclear problem, the Korean Peninsula’s nuclear problem, cyber threat, espionage and space weapons.
He said, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are the biggest global cyber threats. “Frankly, the United States is under attack,” the agency quoted Coats has said.
Geng asked the United States to abandon unproductive thinking, refrain from looking at the relations between major countries from a confrontational point of view, correspond with the trends of time, namely, peace and development, and make concerted efforts with China, Russia and other members of the international community to jointly maintain peace and security throughout the world.
